Case Closed was highly popular in the United States when it was first released in May 24, 2004. The original anime known as Detective Conan in Japan was released in January 1996. Despite the original popularity and six English movies by Funimation, they ended production of the English version Case Closed at episode 130. There are currently 603 episodes, 10 OVAs, 4 magic files, 2 TV specials, and 15 movies. For some the fascination of Detective Conan is ongoing. He is one of the most popular fictional characters based on Sherlock Holmes.
